About Face Theatre Company consists of a core of between six and eight actors who all live in Herefordshire. They are backed by a team of volunteers and the artistic director, as well as other professionals brought in on a show-by-show basis. 

All members of About Face contribute to the devising of their shows. These have often been based on traditional stories from across the world. Music features strongly in their shows and is combined with a striking visual element that is inspired by many different cultures. The exciting costumes and sets are primarily designed by the professional team, with contributions from the actors.

The company is led by Jess Mackenzie, who has been artistic director since its inception. Jess studied drama and stage management at LAMDA, and dance for special needs at the Laban Centre.
