Founded in 1995 as part of ECHO, About Face Theatre Company is the only professional theatre company for people with learning disabilities in Herefordshire. Working to a high standard, the company aims to offer stimulating and original theatre that is both challenging and entertaining. Each show is the result of months of work and a personal creative journey for every member of the team. Although based in Leominster our shows have toured all over the country, as well as playing to schools and communities in Herefordshire. We cater for a variety of different audiences through public performance (both independent and collaborative), small and large scale community projects, school workshops and performances, and conference pieces.
ECHO provides a range of quality choices for disabled people in Herefordshire. Through a mix of educational, voluntary and social activities, ECHO enables people to learn new skills and to develop self-confidence and self esteem. From small beginnings, the organisation now provides over 90 hours of activities each week and supports some 130 people each year. ECHO works mainly with people with learning disabilities, but also works with people with mental health issues or physical impairments. It provides flexible services tailored to the needs of the individual and uses community venues to encourage social inclusion. By supporting disabled people to take part in the life of their local community, ECHO enable them to become valued citizens and as a user led organisation the activities we provide reflect the needs and desires of our members.
